MAMI Welcomes New Board Leadership
Winnipeg – The Mining Association of Manitoba Inc. (MAMI) announced today at CCMEC the appointment of Ashton Crone as its new board president.
Crone, the director of Health, Safety, Risk and Strategy for the Manitoba division of Hudbay Minerals, is a mining professional with a 19-year career with Hudbay.
Crone brings his extensive expertise in safety, operations, and project management, consistently driving continuous improvement and operational excellence to the new leadership role with MAMI.
“It is a privilege to step into the role of president and build on the strong foundation established over the past 80 years. I want to recognize and thank outgoing president Stacy Kennedy for her leadership as her tenure represents an important milestone in our journey, and her contributions will continue to shape our future.“ Crone said.
“I look forward to working alongside my fellow board members and our broader membership to honour our proud history, embrace new opportunities, and ensure our organization continues to grow and thrive for generations to come.”
Kennedy made history with her appointment in 2022, serving as the first female president in MAMI’s 80-year history. In stepping down from her role, she leaves a lasting legacy of leadership, dedication, and progress.
As she concludes this chapter of her service, we celebrate not only the significance of her historic appointment but also the contributions, perspective, and commitment she has brought to the role.
“It has been a tremendous honour to serve as board president and to be the first woman to hold this position in our organization’s 80-year history. I am proud to have been part of its continued growth and evolution, and grateful for the support, collaboration, and shared commitment of my fellow board members,” shared Kennedy.
“As I step away from the role, I do so with immense pride in what we have accomplished together and confidence in the leadership that will carry our organization forward. This has been a meaningful chapter in my journey, and I look forward to seeing the organization continue to thrive in the years ahead.”
MAMI, which assumed management of CCMEC in 2024, has been the voice of the industry for over eight decades. In recent years membership has increased significantly with 56 companies now committed to supporting and strengthening the industry in the province.”
