CCMEC 2026 Kicks Off

The Wait is Over for CCMEC 2026!

Winnipeg – The Central Canada Mineral Exploration Convention (CCMEC) kicked-off today at the Victoria Inn Hotel and Convention Centre with the opening ceremonies, which included remarks from Jamie Moses, Minister of Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation.

This year’s theme, Shaping the Future. Delivering Impact, reflects the convention’s focus on turning ideas, expertise and partnerships into meaningful progress for the industry and the communities it serves.

Running November 2 & 3, the 2026 convention marks a new milestone with the largest trade show in the convention’s history. A record 200+ industry-related companies are represented on the trade show floor, reflecting the sector’s growing momentum and the increasing importance of central Canada as a destination for mineral exploration investment, innovation and collaboration.

“This convention comes at an important time for Manitoba’s mineral exploration sector, particularly following the province’s announcement of its goal to triple mineral production over five years,” said Richard Trudeau, CCMEC 2026 Chair. “With a record-setting trade show and strong technical programming, CCMEC demonstrates the level of interest, investment and collaboration taking place across our industry. We’re bringing people together not just to talk about the future, but to help shape it.”

The opening keynote featured Lana Eagle, one of the mining industry’s leading voices on Indigenous engagement and relationships, and concludes with Patrick Redmond, whose perspective on artificial intelligence offers a look at the technologies transforming the future of mining. From the power of people to the power of AI, the two keynotes offer fresh perspectives on the future of mining.

Over two days, delegates can also participate in 15 technical sessions hosted by more than 30 industry experts. The sessions will provide opportunities to share knowledge, explore emerging challenges and solutions, and discuss the developments influencing mineral exploration and mining across the region.

Beyond the trade show and technical program, attendees will take in a live mine rescue demonstration highlighting the precision, preparation and teamwork essential to mine safety, along with a cultural drumming performance by Co-Co Stevenson. These experiences underscore the people, skills and community connections that are integral to the industry’s future.

The continued growth of CCMEC is made possible through the leadership and investment of its sponsors. The convention recognizes Hudbay Minerals for elevating its support to the top spot of Au79Rush, Exiro Nickel at the Cobalt level, and the Province of Manitoba and Rodren Drilling following at Gold. We also appreciate the many other industry companies whose belief in the convention has resulted in unprecedented support this year.

Now in its third year under the management of the Mining Association of Manitoba Inc. (MAMI), CCMEC provides a platform to strengthen partnerships, exchange ideas and advance the innovations that will shape the sector’s future. With record participation and a shared commitment to progress, the convention is helping translate industry momentum into lasting impact for Manitoba and beyond.
